Statement of Faith

chalice bread cross "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." Matthew 28:19.

We the Catholic community of St. Matthew Parish, attest our conviction to the supreme calling of Jesus Christ our Lord in His commission on Ascension Day. Shepherd in Faith by the living Apostolic Traditions of our One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church; we stand steadfast for the sanctity of life, sanctity of marriage, and profess the Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord- rendering on earth what is fully His. Through Christ our Lord and God, by Grace, we testify our Catholic Faith by which we live for the Audience of "ONE" and seek His consent; our God and Heavenly Father.

In Christ,

Our Parish History

Bishop Mar Sarhad and Mar Bawai "Keep watch over yourselves and over the whole flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, in which you tend the church of God that he acquired with his own blood." Acts 20:28.

H.E. Bishop Bawai Soro, who as of 10/31/2017 was appointed by our Holy Father Pope Francis as the Eparch of Chaldean Eparchy of Mar Addai of Toronto-Canada, chose the name of Saint Matthew for our congregation and Parish in late 2007. The building was purchased in early 2008 in Ceres, CA. On Saturday evening, May 10th of 2008, H.E. Bishop Sarhad Y. Jammo, first Eparch of the Catholic Eparchy of Saint Peter the Apostle for Chaldeans and Assyrians, consecrated our new Saint Matthew Catholic Church accompanied by H.E. Bishop Bawai Soro. During this liturgical ceremony, various clergies and large number of the faithful of Assyrians and Chaldeans were present. On Pentecost Sunday morning, May 11th of 2008, both Bishops, various Clergies, members of our Parish, and friends from other Parishes celebrated the first Holy Mass at Saint Matthew Catholic Church. In 2008, Bishop Sarhad appointed Father Michael Barota as the Church first Pastor. In 2012 Bishop Sarhad reassigned Father Barota to St. Mary's Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church in Campbell-CA, and appointed Father Awraha Mansoor as the Church new Pastor and Father Peter Georgis as the Assistant Pastor.

In 2016 H.E. Bishop Sarhad Y. Jammo retired, and in August of 2017 H.E. Bishop Emanuel Shaleta was appointeded by our Holy Father, Pope Francis, to be the Eparch of our Chaldean Catholic Eparchy. Also, in April of 2017 Fr. Joseph Kachappilly was appointed as our Parish Priest.

Our Parish maintains her tradition in celebrating all liturgical services throughout the year, by which, parishioners continue receiving the blessings of being universally one in Christ- One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. In the House of The Lord, there are many ways where one can actively participate in proclaiming the Gospel, and entering in union into a community of Faith. So come join us; sheduale of regular services and special events are posted on our Parish's website Home Page.
